Real Madrid’s winger Marco Asensio is keen on extending his stay at the Spanish club.
According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Asensio and his entourage are in talks with Real Madrid over a new deal.
“Marco Asensio's priority has always been to extend the contract and stay at Real Madrid. There's interest from English and Italian clubs on free move but he hopes to stay,” Romano tweeted.
“Talks over new deal are progressing, it's not done yet but discussions will continue,” he added.
The Spaniard's current deal expires in June, which has raised speculation of a summer departure as a free agent.
Asensio has 15 goals and assists this season in La Liga, which is the most in his career so far.
"He looks good to me, I don’t know if he will stay or not. He may or may not stay, I don’t know, I don’t care much. We have a very important challenge this season. The important thing is that he is contributing, like last year. Let him continue like this, and the club will make the most appropriate decision,” said Ancelotti when asked about Asensio’s contract situation in February earlier this year.
The European Champions will also try to sign the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) winger Kylian Mbappe once again.
Earlier, according to The Telegraph, the French star is likely to leave his current club PSG in the upcoming transfer window along with his teammates Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr.
The 34-time Spanish champions tried to sign Mbappe last season but their €200m bid was rejected by the French club as they considered the World Cup winner “untouchable”.
He then went on renewing with the French side for three years which would keep him at the club till 2025.
However, it has been reported that the final year in Mbappe's contract is optional and it would make sense for other clubs to try to sign him.
